(a) No person resident or nonresident whose ope?- <br />ator's or chauffeur's license or instruction permit <br />has been suspended or revoked by any court or by the <br />Coa~ssioner or by operation of law pttrsum~t to the <br />provisions of this chapter, Title 46.1 of the Code of <br />Virginia, section 18.1-59 of the Code of VirgirO~, or <br />any similar law or regulation or who has been for- <br />bidden as prescribed by law by the Co~vmissioner, the <br />State Corporation Commission, the State Highway Commis- <br />sioner, or the Superintendent of State Police, to <br />operate a motor veh~cte in t~is State shall drive a~y <br />motor vehicl~ in this city du~im~ any period wherein <br />the restoration of license or privilege is contingent <br />upon the fur~ishing of proof of fir~mciat responsibility, <br />unless he has given proof of finmacial responsibility <br />i~ the manner provided in article 6 (§ 46.1-467 et seq.) <br />of Chapter 6 of the Code of Virginia. <br /> (b) Any person violating this section shall upon <br />conviction of the first violation therefor be ptmished <br />by imprisonment for not less than ten days nor more than <br />six months or be fined ,not less than one htmdred dollars <br />nor more than five hu~ndred dollars, or be punished by <br />~oth such fine and ~mprisomment. For the second or <br />any subsequent violation of this section the offender <br />shall be confined in jail no~ less than one- month nor <br />more than twelve months, or be fined not less than one <br />'hundred dollars nor more than one thousmnd dollars, or <br />b~ punished by both suci~ fine and imprisonment. <br /> <br />Sec. <br /> <br />Operation of tractor after conviction <br />of drivir~ under influence of intoxicants <br />or drugs. <br /> <br /> The conviction of a person for drivir~ under the in- <br />fluence of intoxicm~ts or s~ other self-administered <br />drug in violation of any State law or local ordinance <br />shall not operate to prevent or prohibit such person <br />from operating a farm tractor upon the highways when it <br />it necessary to move such tractor from one ~rac~ of <br />land used for agricultural purposes to another tract <br />of land used for the same purposes~ provided that the <br />distance between the said tracts of land shall not ex- <br />ceed five miles. <br /> <br />10 <br /> <br /> <br />
