When dogs to be quarantined. <br /> <br /> It shall be the duty of the owner or person <br />having custody of any dog who has been bitten by <br />another dog or other animal known to have rabies <br />to quarantine such bitten dog in the manner set <br />forth in this artidle for a period of six months, <br />unless sooner released by consent of the director <br />of public health. <br /> <br /> It shall be the duty of the owner or person <br />having custody of any dog otherwise suspected of <br />having rabies to quarantine Such dog as herein- <br />after set forth for a period of two weeks, unless <br />sooner released by consent of the director of public <br />health. <br /> <br />'Sec. 3-25. What constitutes quarantine; fee when <br /> dog is quarantined at city pound; <br /> inspection of quarantined dogs; removal <br /> of dog from place of quarantine.-~ <br /> <br /> Quarantine, as used in this articCe, shall mean <br /> the keeping of any dog under such conditions of <br /> reasonable security and confinement as may be <br /> determined by the director of public health to be <br /> necessary or desirable in the.interest of public <br /> health and safety. In the discre%ion of the <br /> director of public health, such quarmntine may be <br /> effected on the premises of the owner or person <br /> having custody of the dog to be ~uarantined or by <br /> delivery to an approved veterinarian, kennel or <br /> pound~ which shall be at the cost and expense of the <br /> owner or person having custody of such dog, If the <br /> owner or p rson nav~ng custody o£ such dog shall be <br /> unwilling or unable to subject any dog to the <br /> quarantine requirgd by the director of public health <br /> as aforesaid, or, if in the opinion of the director <br /> of public health such ba necessary~ it shall be the <br /> duty of the director of public health to cause such <br /> dog to be delivered ~o the city pound for the quarantine <br /> period required.
