health, to cause such animal to be killed as aforesaid. Sec.'$-24. When dogs to be quarantined. It shall be the duty of the owner or person having custody of any dog who has been bitten by another dog or other animal known to have rabies to quarantine such bitten dog in the manner set forth in this artidle for a period of six months, unless sooner released by consent of the director of public health. It shall be the duty of the owner or person having custody of any dog otherwise suspected of having rabies to quarantine Such dog as herein- after set forth for a period of two weeks, unless sooner released by consent of the director of public health. 'Sec. 3-25. What constitutes quarantine; fee when dog is quarantined at city pound; inspection of quarantined dogs; removal of dog from place of quarantine.-~ Quarantine, as used in this articCe, shall mean the keeping of any dog under such conditions of reasonable security and confinement as may be determined by the director of public health to be necessary or desirable in the.interest of public health and safety. In the discre%ion of the director of public health, such quarmntine may be effected on the premises of the owner or person having custody of the dog to be ~uarantined or by delivery to an approved veterinarian, kennel or pound~ which shall be at the cost and expense of the owner or person having custody of such dog, If the owner or p rson nav~ng custody o£ such dog shall be unwilling or unable to subject any dog to the quarantine requirgd by the director of public health as aforesaid, or, if in the opinion of the director of public health such ba necessary~ it shall be the duty of the director of public health to cause such dog to be delivered ~o the city pound for the quarantine period required.
