ORDINANCE flO_l - <br /> <br />~N ORDINANCE TO .~ND SEC~fION 6-1 OF THE CODE OF <br />THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, TO PERMIT <br />THE BURIAL OF THE EEM~S OF ANY FEHSON IN OLIVE <br />BRANCH BAPTIST CHURCH <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Co~cil of the Ciby~ Of -~-? <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, that Section 6-1 of the Code of <br />the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended and <br />reordained to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 6-1. <br /> <br />Prohibiting burials except in <br />cemeteries; establishment and <br />enlsrgement of cemeteries. <br /> <br /> No person shall bury or cause to be <br />buried, without permission of the director <br />of public health, the remains Of any person <br />in any private lot, or at any place within <br />the city except in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Oak <br />Grove Cemetery, Olive Branch Cemetery, Olive <br />Branch Annex Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial Park, <br />Saint Paul Cemetery, Evergreen Memorial Park, <br />the cemeteries on Paradise Creek belonging to <br />the congregations' of Gomley Chesed Synagogue <br />and Chevra Thilim Synagogue, and the cemetery <br />belonging to Olive Branch Baptist Church; <br />provided, however, that the remains of no <br />person shall be buried in the cemetery be- <br />longing to Olive Branch Baptist Church within <br />60 feet of the Center line of Airline Boulevard. <br />No cemetery shall hereafter be established or <br />enlarged, in the city. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, at a meeting held May ll, 1965, <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
