AM ORDINANCE TO AME~ SECTION 19-36 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF POP~S~DUTH, VIRIGNIA, 1961, TO E~T SHIP DISM~TLING <br />AND SCRAPPING OPERATION FROM ~ PROVISIONS OF TH]E ANTI- <br />NOISE ORDINANCE. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, that section 19-36 of the Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended and reordained <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 19-36. Noise m Generally. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for arj person to make, <br />continue, or cause to be made or continued, any unnec- <br />essary or unusual noise between the hours of 6:00 A.M. <br />and 8:00 P.M., ffnich either annoys, injures or endangers <br />the comfort, repose, health or safety of others, or to <br />make, continue or cause to be made or continued between <br />the hours of 8:0.0 P.M. and 6:00 A.M., whether in the <br />operation of any machine or the exercise of any trade or <br />calling or otherwise, any noise which either annoys, injures <br />or endangers the comfort, repose, health or safety of others., <br />unless the making.and continuing of the same be necessary <br />for the protection or preservation of prope~y or of the <br />health, safety, life or ~ of some person; provided, <br />however, that the provisions of this sections hall not apply <br />to any ship dismantling and scrapping operation conducted in <br />au area zoned for such operation. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council ofthe City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held May 11, 1965. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />C~ty Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
