Section 57. Buyers of Gold and Silver: For every buyer of gold and silver there shall be paid a license tax of $SO.00; provided, however, that this license tax shall not apply to licensed jewelry merchants purchasing old gold and silver at their place of business. Not prorated. Section 58. Carnivals, Circuses and Trained Animal Shows: {a) Carnivals: Every person who exhibits performances in a carnival as defined in Section S8-277 of the Code .of Virginia, 19SO, as amended, in the City of Portsmouth, s.hAtl pay a license tax of $180 per day that such carnival exhibits in the said city. {b} Circuses: Every person who exhibits performances of a circus or circuses and menagerie or w~ld west show in the City of Ports- mouth, shall pay a license tax of $180 per day that such circus exhibits in the said city. (c) Trained Animal Shows: Every person who shall exhibit per- formances of trained animal shows in the City of Portsmouth shall pay a license tax of $7S per day that such trained animal show shall exhibit in said city. Provided, however, that each person who exhibits performances as described in this section shall, before beginning operatio~ in'the City of Portsmouth, post ~ surety bond in the amount of $S00, which bond shall assure faithful compliance by the licensee with all of the laws of the city pertaining to revenue and regulations. Section ~9. Cleaning, Pressing, Dyeing and Laundry - Local: Every person who shall engage in the business of cleaning, pressing, dyeing, and laundering, which shall include cleaning and blocking of hats, dyeing clothing material or garments, and cleaning rugs and furniture shall pay a license tax of $50 on the first $S,000.00 of gross receipts and in addition thereto, $.2S per $100 on all additional gross receipts. Section 60. Cleaning, Pressing, Dyeing and Laundry - Non-Local: Every person engaged in the business of dry cleaning, pressing, dyeing~ laundering~ cleaning rugs~ or cleaning furniture, who does such work outside of the City of Portsmouth shall pay a license Tax of $42S.00 per annum for each office or place &n the City of Portsmouth used for receiving and/or delivering such work° Not prorated.
