roads, or routes, including bridges, maintained by the City as follows: <br />One-fifth cent per mile for each mile operated within the City by any <br />vehicle weighing five thousand pounds or less; two-fifths cent per mile <br />for each mile so operated by any vehicle weighting more than five <br />thousand pounds and less than fifteen thousand po/ads; and three-fifths <br />cent per ~ile for each mile so operated by any vehicle weighing more than <br />fifteen thousand pounds. This tax is levied pursuant to Section 58-638.1 <br />of the Code of Virginia, 1950. This tax shall not apply to a local <br />transportation company operating over the streets of the City by and <br />with the consent of the City Council by way of a franchise 'from the - ~ <br />Council or by way of other express consent. <br /> <br />Section 55. Bus and Freight Terminals: <br /> <br /> (a) The license tax for the privilege of maintaining and op- <br />erating a passenger bus terminal in the City of Portsmouth for the <br />purpose of receiving er discharging passengers shall be $1S0.00, not <br />prorated. <br /> <br /> (b) The license tax for the privilege of maintaining and op- <br />erating a motor freight terminal in the City of Portsmouth, for the pur- <br />pose of receiving and discharging freight, shall be $7S.00, not prorated. <br /> <br />Section S6. Bnsiness Service Occupations: <br /> <br />Every person conducting, operating, or engaging in any of the <br />'following businesses, trades, or occupations shall pay an annual license <br />tax of $5:0.00 for the first $5,000 and $0.25 for each additional $100 <br />of his gross receipts, as hereinabove defined, in said trade, business <br />or.occupatio~ for the previous calendar year: <br /> <br />An airport <br />Erecting, installing, removing, storing awnings <br />Furnishing clean diapers <br />Hauling or transfer, not in connection with taxicab business <br />An impounding lot <br />Job printer, printing shop, bookbinding, duplicating processes <br />Leasing fi~ms for compensation <br />Packing, crating, shipping, hauling~ or moving goods or <br /> chattels for others. <br />Parking lots <br />Public garage <br />Renting airplanes <br />Renting bicycles <br />Storage, all types <br />Supplying clean linen, coats, aprons, towels <br />Title plant or abstracting, other than licensed attorney <br />U-Drive-It firm or business <br />Vehicular advertising, electric advertising, bus advertising~ <br /> commercial advertis£ng, except as stated in Section 47 <br /> ~nd 48 <br />Other'business service occupations, <br /> <br />- 18 - <br /> <br /> <br />
