Every person who shall act as agent or attorney-in-fact for <br />any person who shall, for compensation, become or furnish surety for any <br />person or persons charged with a felony or misdemeanor or with violation <br />of any city ordinance or ordinances or State law, shall pay a license <br />tax of $300.00 per annum. Suck license shall not be transferable or <br />prorated. <br /> <br /> Provided; that nothing in this section shall be construed to <br />conflict with regulatory laws and ordinances gover~ng conduct, practice <br />or fees of Professional Bondsmen. <br /> <br /> No license shall be issued hereunder unless and until there is <br />presented to the Commissioner of the Revenue a certificate from a court <br />of record in this city permitting the operation of this business. <br /> <br />Section S1. Boot Blacks~ <br /> <br /> Hvery person engagxng in the business of cleaning, polishing <br />or dyeing shoes or boots shall pay a license tax of $1S.00 for two Chairs <br />or less, and for each additional chair in the place of business, $2.50 <br />per year. This tax is in addition to any other tax ~mposed by this o~di* <br />nance. This license tax shall not be prorated. <br /> <br />Section 52. Bowling Alleys: <br /> <br /> Every person engaged in the operation of a public bowling <br />saloon and tenpin alley or other like games, shall pay a license tax of <br />$45~00 on the first alley and in addition thereto, $1S,00 for each ad- <br />ditlonal~alley. Each such alley shall be assessed for license whether <br />used or not. <br /> <br />Section 53. Building and Loan Association or Companies: <br /> <br /> Hach building and loan association lending money on real <br />estate security, or on stock in an amount not to exceed the sum actually <br />paid in at the time of the loan, shall pay a license of $S0.00. <br /> <br /> All building and loan associations, other than those hereto- <br />fore provided for, shall pay a license of $180.00. <br /> <br /> Remedial Loan Banks operating under the ~niform Small Loan <br />Law, shall pay a license of $360,~00. <br /> <br />Section 54. Bus Companies and Motor Vehicle Carriers of Passengers <br /> and Property: <br /> <br /> There shall be levied annually ~a license tax on motor vehicle <br />carriers operating through the City of Portsmouth for use of the streets, <br /> <br />- 17- <br /> <br /> <br />
