Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth~ Virginia: 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended by amendir~ sections 9-12, 9-19, 9-39, 9-4t, 9-42 ar~ 9-50 ~nereof, and by addling thereto a new section n~ubere~ 9-29, such amended and new section,s to read as follows: Sec. 9-12. National Electrical Code - Adoption by reference. All electrical construction and all material and appliances used in connection with electrical work and the operation of all electrical apparatus ~ithin the city shall conform ~o the r~les and re- quiremenss of the National Electrical Code, 1965, as amerced, adopted by the National Fire Protection Association for the installation of wiring ar~ ap- paratus for electrical purposes, which rulessnd re- quirements are hergoy adopted and approved ar~ ~ade a part of this Code as fully as if every word, clause, phrase, sentence, section and parc thereof were printed herein; provided, that such rules ar~ requiraments are not in conflict v~ith the laws. of the state or the ordinances of the city.
