;~ ORD17~_~CE ADOPTI3~G A N~ BbT_LDING CODE FOR THE CI~ OF POR~SMOUY~H, ~qICH PRESCRIBES PENALTIES FOR VIOLATION OF ITS PROVISIONS, ~ ~EPW_ALING~ Wi~fH CERTAI2~ LI~'~fATiONS ~]D EXCEPTIONS, ALL ORDINANCES AND PAB~_S OF ORDINANCES OF A GEh~ NATURE IN COi~FLiCT W±TH ~]E PROVISIONS THEREOF. Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portamouth: Section'l: ~nat all ar~ singular the provisions relating to the construction, equipment, alteration, repair, removal and demolition of buildings and structures in the City of Portsmouth and fees therefor and penalties for violations, se~ forth in the &napters ar~ sections of the new building code for the City of Portsmouth, a copy of which is attached hereto, be and the same are hereby ordained as general ordinances of the City of Portamouth and are hereby adopted as and shall constitute the "Buildirg.Code of the City of Portauouth, 1967". Section 2: ~n~t the provisions of said building code shall be in force on and after January i, 1967. Section ~: That all ordinances and parts of ordinances of a general nature in conflict with the provisions of said buildirg code are hereby repealed as of January 1, 1967, but said repeal, however, shall not affect any act or offense done or co~uitted, or any penalty, forfeiture or punishment incurred, or any right ac- cruing or accrued, or acquired or established before the d~v which the provisions of said buil~ir~ code take effect~ or any prosecution, suit or proceediog pending on that day. Section 4: ~nat nothing in said buidtimg code contained shall require any ch~e in the p]ar~, construction, alteration or repair of any building or s~ruc~ure for which a pemit had been granted or for which plans were on file with the Depar~ent of Building Inspection prior to Janu~y i,~ 1967, and the construction, alteration or repair of which building or structure frmm such plans shall have been sta~ed ~Ithin ninety days fram said January 1, 1967; provided, however, that if the construction, alteration or repair of any such building or structure shall be -discontinued for a period of ninety days after said building code takes effect, a~jf further construction, alteration or repair of such'building or structure shall be in conformity with the provisions'0f said building code. Section 5: An emer~oency exists ~nd this ordinance shall become effective on January 1, 1967. Adopted by the Council of the City of ~ortsmouth, Virginia, at a meetiDg held on December 13, 1966.
