'(b) $,3h~uld a ~ember die in service at any time bofore attaining his sixtieth birthday, or should he die in service after attaining his sixti'eth birthday from a cause compensable under the Virginia. ~'~'orl~aen' s Compensat ion Act, ~he ~n~ount of his accm~utated contributions reduced by the ~ount of any retirement allowance previously received by him under any of the provisions of this article shall then be payable in a l~ap s~ in accordance with section 26-42; provided tl~at if the ~ount of the member's acc~mlated contri- butions prior to such reduction is less than ten dollars, no such pa~ent shall be made and the member's accumulated contributions shall be nrans- fetter from th~ members' contribution accounn to the retirement allowance account as provide~ in Section 26-28 (f). Sec. 26-S8. Additional death benefits. (a) Should a member, who had one or more years of creditable service die in service a~ any time before retirement from a cause not compen- sable under the Virginia i~orkmen's Compensation Act, an additional benefit equal to one thousand dollars, shall then be payable in a l~p s~m in accordance with section 26-~2. (b) Should a member die in service at any time after having attained his sixtieth birthday, from a cause not compensable under the Virginia Wort~men's Compensation Act, there shall be oaid a retirement allowance to the first of the follo~- ina listed persons, if any are alive at the death of the member: Wife, husband, mother, father; such retirement allowance shall be continued dur- ing the lifetime of such firs~ listed person and shall be equal ~o the reduced retirement allowance that would nave been payable had the member retired on the date of his death after hav~ug elected to have his allowance payable under the joint and last survivor option described in subsection (a) -2-
