Sec. 26-38. Additional death benefits. (a) Should a member, who had one or more yea_~s of creditable service die in service at any time before retirement from a cause not compen- sable under the Virginia Workmen's Compensation Act~ an additional benefit equal to one thousand dollars, shall then be payable in a lump sum in accordance ~ith section 26-42. (b) Should a mamber die in service at any time after having attained his sixtieth birthday, from a cause not cmmpensable under the Virginia Workmen's Compensation Act, there shall be paid a retirament allowa~ce to the firs~ of the follow- Lng listed persons, if any are alive at the death of the mamber: Wife, husband, mother, father; such retirement allowance shall be continued dur- Lng the lifetime of such first listed person and -5-
