Section S. Promotions. <br /> <br /> For the purpose of cQmputing compensation under Schedule A of,this <br />Ordinance during the first year only of employment in any higher rank, any <br />fireman or policeman promoted to a higher rank during the second, third, fourth, <br />or seventh years of his' employment, shall be deemed to be in the first, second, <br />third, or fourth respectively, of his employment, and any fireman or policeman <br />promoted to a higher rank during or after the eighth..year of his employment shall <br /> <br />be deemed to be in the seventh year of his employment. <br /> Section 6. Demotions. <br /> <br /> Any Fireman or Policeman who is demoted to a lower class shall receive <br /> <br />compensation according to the rank in which hE is placed. <br /> Section 7. Reinstated Firemen and Policemen. <br /> <br /> Any Fireman or Policeman who is reinstated within one year after he ' <br />has left the employment of the City shall receive compensation according to the <br />class in which he is placed not to exceed, however, the rate of pay he would <br /> <br />receive had he not left the employment of the City. <br /> Section 8. Overtime. <br /> <br /> Firemen and Policemen whose rate of pay is fixed on a monthly basis <br />shall not receive any compensation for extra or overtime work, except in cases <br />of emergency. Any extra compensation allowed must be approved in advance of the <br />performance of the work by the Chief of each~ department with the approval of the <br />City Manager and must be entered by'the Chief on the next succeeding payroll <br />submitted to the City Auditor. <br /> <br /> Section 9. Salary Adjustments. <br /> <br /> Salary adjustments shall become effective on the first day of the month <br /> following the anniversary date of employment. <br /> <br /> <br />
