laws of this State, except pay telephones, $50.00 <br />for e~ch of the first ten of such machines and $25.00 <br />for ~ach such mac~ in excess of ten. <br /> <br /> Befor~ bming pieced on location for use by the public, each <br />coin machir~ nm~t have the proper license attached thereto. The <br />license required by this section may be traUsferred from one coin <br />machir~ to another such machine of the same type, provided neither <br />machine ~as bean placed on tocation for use by the public. <br /> <br /> ~d~er being placed on location, the license card or license <br /> plate s~t always he displayed on and attached to such mack~ne, mud <br />. ~ny person havir~ such a machine on his premises or in his possession <br />without ha~irg such license plate ~playe~ on the coin machine, shall <br />be ~ubJect to a fine of $10.00, and each day shall constitute a separate <br />violation thereof. <br /> <br />This license is not p~oratable. <br /> <br /> (b) Every person se]]~g leasing, renting or otherwise <br />i~n~nis~ a coin-operated machine or device operated on the <br />coln-in-the-slot principle, or placing such a maQhine or device <br />~ith others sh~]7 be deemed to be a coin machine operator. Every <br />such operator as herein defined s~all pay an annual license tax <br />of $300.00~ The license tax imposed by this subsection is not in <br />lieu of, but is in addition to the other license taxes imposed by <br />this section. This license shall not be proratable or transferable. <br /> <br /> ~ coin machine operator's license tax levied by this sub- <br />section sb~]t not be applicable to operators of weighing machines, <br />autc~atic baggage or parcel checking machines or receptacles, nor <br />to ve~ ~achines which are so constructed as to do notblng but <br />vend m~rchandise or postage stamps, or provide service only, nor to <br />operators of coin-operated m~sical ~achines or musical devices that <br />operate on the coin-in, the-slot principle, nor to operators of view- <br />ing machines or photomat machines, nor to operators of devices or <br />macbiues affording rides to children or for the delivery of newspapers. <br /> <br /> Every operator who is required by this subsection to take <br />out a licer~se as a coin machir~ operator shall furnish a complete <br />list of ~]] machines on location and the names and addresses of <br />each location to the Commissioner of the Revenue upon request. <br /> <br /> Every such coin machine operator shall deposit with the <br />C~mmissioner of the Revenue a bond, in the amount of $1,000.00 With <br />surety thereon approved by the Commissioner, to insure the filing <br />of such lists and the paymen~ of the taxes imposed by this section. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, at <br />meeting held November 26, 1968. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
