ORDIHAHCE HD. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE TO ~MEND SECTIONS 106.1, 106.2 AND 114 <br />OF THE BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, 1967, <br />PERTAINING TO BUILDING AND D~OLITION PERMITS, BONDS <br />AND PENALTYF,2 FOR VIOLATIONS, RESPECTIVELY. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, that Sections 106.t, 106.2, and llh of the Building <br />Code of the City of Portsmouth, 1967, be amended mad reordained <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br />106.1 - ACTION ON APPLICATION <br /> <br /> (a) No person, firm or corporation shall erect, construct, <br />eolarge, alter, repair, move, improve, remove, convertor demolish <br />any building or structure in the city, orcause the same to be done, <br />without first obtaining a separate building permit for such buildings <br />or structures from the Building Official.~ <br /> <br /> (b) If the Building Official is satisfied that the work described <br />in an application for permit and the drawings filed therewith conform <br />to the requirements of the code and other pertinent laws and ordinances, <br />he shall issue a permit therefor to the applicant. <br /> <br /> (c) If the application for a permit and the d~awings filed <br />therewith describe work which does not conform to the requirements of <br />this code or other pertinent law or ordinances, the Building Official <br />shall not issue a permit, but shall return the drawings to the applicant <br />with his refusal to issue such permit. Suchre_~usal shall, when requested, <br />be in ~iting and shall contain the reasons therefor. <br /> <br /> (d) No permit shall be issued for work done by a contractor, <br />sub-contractor, superintendent of construction exceeding $20,000.00 in <br />cost unless such contractor, sub-contractor or superintendent of construct- <br />ion is registered in the State of Virginia. <br /> <br /> (e) Any person, firm or corporation obtaining a permit to wreck or <br />demolish any building or structure in the city ~shall as a condition of <br />obtaining and retaining said permit agree, when dm~pi~ is to be done <br />within the city, to dump any debris, waste, refuse, garbage, salvao~e or <br />other material from said wrecking or de~01ition only upon a licensed landfil <br />or upon such other site within or without the city as the Building 0f~_cial <br />may approve. <br /> <br /> <br />
