Section 68. Junk s~nd Second F~nd Ps, er Canvassers: <br /> <br /> Every person actin~ as a canvasser for the purpose of buyir~g <br />junk, second hsm~ paper or other matter for any junk or second hand <br />paper dealer, or for sale to such a dealer~ shall pay an annual li- <br />cense tax o~ $50.00. <br /> <br /> No license shall be issued hereanderunless and until the <br />applicant shall exhibit to the Cormmissioner of the Revenue ~itten <br />evidence of his appointment as a can-~asser by a duly licensed junk <br />or second hand paper dealer. <br /> <br />Section 69. Junk and Second Hand Paper Dealers: <br /> <br /> Every person engaging in the business of dealir~ in junk mat- <br />erials or second hand p~er s~ll ps~y an e~nnua! license tax of $5~.00 <br />on the first $5,000 and $.30 for .each additio~al $100 of his gross <br />receipts, as hereinabove defined in said busir~ss. <br /> <br /> No lice~esb~!l be issued here~ander u~ess and until there is <br />exhibited to the Co~r~ssioner of the Revenue a license to engage in <br />such bus,ness issued by the proper c~art. <br /> <br /> Nothir~ in this section shall be c~nstrued to exav~t ~ny em- <br />ployee of such dealer acting as a canvasser from the payment of the <br />canvasser's license tax. <br /> <br />Section 70. Livery Stable: <br /> <br /> The license tax on eve_~y person for the purpose of keepirg a <br />livery stable in the City of Portsmouth shall be $120.00; and the terra <br />"live~y stable" s~hall be co.~trued to ambrace in addition to its usual <br />significance, evenly stable from v£~ch horses or vehicles are hired out <br />for transfer or conveyance of passer.gets or baggage. <br /> <br />Section 71. Lo~m. Co~v~anies: <br /> <br /> (a) Every person other tbm~n b~mks, ba~zers, pa~brokers, <br />credit m~ions, ~nd those hereirafter set forth in tb~s section, en- <br />ga~oed in the business of pm~chasiD~ salaries or of le~ir~ money <br />or without security or endors~ent, shall p~y a license tax of $500.00. <br /> <br /> (b) Every person in the business of !endir~ money on the Morris <br />or other sZmilar ~lans. at the legal rate of interest, where the ~aid- <br />~_n capital~ sur?lus anm mndm~gea ~rofits of such person at the close <br />of the previous calendar year were' $i0~D00.00 or less, shall pay a <br />license tax of ~!50.00, ~nd where said paid-in-capital, s~u~plus and <br />m.~di~zded ~rofits were in excess of S!0~000.O0, shall oay the further <br />susa of $2.50 per $~000.00 on all such ~aid-im capital, su~olus and <br />mndivided profits ~ in excess of said Si0,000.00. <br /> <br /> <br />
