Section 64. Dance Nails - Public <br /> <br /> Every person engag~_ng i~,u the operation of a dance Fall, or <br />arty public hall open to the generaI public where dmncing is permitted, <br />to vfr~ich an admission fee is chargoed, or for which co~ioensation is in <br />any mamner received, either directly or indirectly, by cover charge <br />or othe~'k[se, shall pay a license tax of $100.00 per armt~m. <br /> <br />Section 65. D~tective ~Eencies and ~atclmmen: <br /> <br /> Eve~ person operating a detective agency or engaged in the <br />business of a detective, mud every agency or person furnisF~ ~,~tch- <br />men including s~hip watching for compensation, where or~ly one person, <br />includiog the o~mer, is e,~ployed, shall pay a license trax of $150.00; <br />and where .more t~han one person, including the o~.~z_aer, is e~oloyed, there <br />sb~ll be an additional tax of $25.00 for each employee. <br /> <br /> No detective license, shall be issued until the applicant shall <br />e~dqibit to the Co.n~zissioner of the Revenue a per, nit issued by the <br />Chief. of Police to engage in such business. <br /> <br />Section 66. Electric Ligjat ~ud Power; Heat and Gas: <br /> <br /> A~y person who shall ergage in the business of D~rnishing heat, <br />light and power, whether by mean~ of electricity or gas, in the City <br />of Portsmouth, shall pay a license tax equal to one-half of one ocr cent <br />(1/2%) of the gross ~mua! receipts accrt~i_~ to such person fro~ said <br />business in the City of Portsmouth; provided, however, that there .sb~ll <br />be deducted any s'&m or s'm~ paid by such person to the City as a mer- <br />chants license tax and license taxes, except motor ~'e~hicle licer~e <br />taxes. <br /> <br />Section 67. Fortune Tellers, C!airvoymuts and Practioners <br /> of Pa]~mist~y, Phrenology, and ~m~ ~riting <br /> Analysis: <br /> <br /> B_ny and e-¥~ery person who, for compensation~ shall pretend to <br />tell fortunes or assu~e to act as a clai~oyar~t or to practice, palm- <br />ist~, p~e~aology or hand writip~ analysis, sb~ll pay a license tax of <br />810,000.00 per armum. <br /> <br />This license sb~il not be ~proratab_!e or trmnsferable. <br /> <br />-25- <br /> <br /> <br />
