(a) The driver of s_~y vehicle involved Ln s~n accident in which a person is killed or injured ~r ~n which e~n attended vehicle or other at- tended proper~y is damaged shall ~v~diately s~op as close to the scene df the accident as possible without obstructing t~f~fic and report forth~th to the police authority; and, in addition~ to the person struck and in- jured if such perso~ appesz~s to be capable of understanding and rett- ing the information~ or to the driver or smme other occupant of the ~e~kicle col2ided with or to the custodian of other da~ged property, his n~me, ad~- dress~ operator's or chauffeur's license n~mber ~nd the registration number of his vehicle. ~e driver shall also render reasonable assistance to any person injured ~n such accident, inc!u ~ding the carry~n~ of such in- j~m~ed person to a physicist, surgeon or hospital for medical treatment if it is apparen~ that such treat~nt is necessary or is reque_sted by the ~n- Jured person. ~b) If the driver falls ~o stop and n~nke the report required by paragraph (a) of this section, any person inthe vehicle with the dPiver at the time of the accident who has k~owledge of the accident shall report within twenty-four hours from the ti~ of the accident to the chief of police of the city, his name, ad~ress s~nd such other information within his knowledge as' the driver must repor~ purs~nt to paragraph (a) of this sect ion. (e) The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident in which no person is killed or injured but ~n Which an ~unattended vehicle or other ~nattended property is damaged shall ~eke a reasonable effort vo find the o~a~er or custodian of such property and shall repo~ to the o~er or custodian the info~mation which the driver mmst report pursuant to para- graph (a)'of this ~e'ction if such owner or custodian is found, if the owner or custodian of such damaged vehicle or property cear~not be fomnd~ the driver shall leave a note in a conspicuous place at thescen~ accident and shall report the accident in ~.~ting ~.~ithin twenty-f cuP hours to the chief of police. Such note ~d ~itten re~o~ shall contain the ir~- formation ~nich the driver.~st report pursus~ to section and such written report shall state ~-n addition the date, time and place of the accident ~ad the driver?s estimate~ of the property d~age. (d) If the driver fails to stop eld m~2{e a reasonable search for the o~er or custodian of an unattended vehicle or prope~y or to leave a note for such o~mer or custodian as required by pa~agraph (c) of this seotion~ ~ny person in the vehicle W_th the driver at the t~--me of the acci- dent who has knowledge of the accident s~ ~hall repo~ ~th~_n twenty-four ho~_~s from the t~n~e of the accident to the d~ief of policies, his ~me~ adck~-ess such other facts within his knowledge as are required by paragraph (c) of this section to be reported by the driver° (e) The repo._~s req~mired by this section are in addition to other accident reports req~g_red by this chapter or state laws_nd shall be ~de respective of the amo~ua~ of property damage involved. -11-
