AN ORDINASCE TO ~%END THE ZONING ORDINanCE OF THE <br />CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, 1961, BY .~4ENDING SECTION 5-8 THEREOF, <br />ESTABLISHING MINIMUM PLOT WIDTHS FOR ROW HOUSES IN THE RESI- <br />DLNTIAL R-60 AND R-60-A DISTRICTS. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Portsmouth, <br />1961, be amended by amending section 5-8 thereof, such <br />amended section to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 5-8. Residential R-60 and Residential R-60-A <br /> District Dimenisonal Requirements. <br /> <br /> Within the Residential R-60 and Residential R-60-A <br />Districts as shown on the Zoning Map, all the following <br />dimensional requirements shall be complied with: <br /> <br /> (a) Minimum required plot area for dwelling types <br />other than row houses ............... 6,000 square feet <br /> <br /> (b) Minimum required plot area for row houses only .... <br />2,000 square feet; except that as an alternate method of develop- <br />ment, a subdivision of row houses may be approved without a <br />mmnimum plot size requirement, provided that the maximum number <br />of plots per acre shall not exceed 20 plots per gross acre and <br />'all other dimensional requirements set forth by this section <br /> which are applicable to row houses are followed. "Gross acre" <br /> shall not include any public street right of way properly dedicated <br /> and accepted for maintenance by the City. <br /> <br />(c) Minimum required plot width for row houses only: <br /> <br />Interior Plots ....... Minimum width - 16 feet. <br /> <br />End Plots ............ Minimum width - 25 feet. <br /> <br /> (d) Maximum allo~able floor area devoted to residential <br />purposes for structures othDr than row houses in the Residential <br />R-60 and R=60-A Districts shall be one-half of the plot area; pro- <br />vided, however, that in the Residential R-60 and R-60-A Districts, <br />upon approval of the PlanniDg Commission after submmssion of site <br />plan and general characteristics of the building, the maximum <br />allowable floor area devoted to residential purposes for a building <br />exceeding three stories above the ground level in which elevators <br />are provided shall be equal to the plot area. <br /> <br /> <br />
