(e) Sepamate Sp~ce fox Bathers and Spectators. <br />'The design of the locker room, shower rooms and pool <br />shall be such as to provide proper rout!ng of bathers <br />and complete separation of bathers and spectators. <br />Enclosures sufficiently high and strong to keep spec- <br />~ators outside the runways of the pool shall be pro- <br />vided. Th'e p~ol shall be completely surrounded by a <br />walkway at least 4 feet in width. <br /> <br /> (f) Heating. Ail indoor pools which are to be <br />used when the outside temperature is below 60% Far~n- <br />heit shall be provided with facilities for uniform and <br />adequate heating of the pool room, dressing rooms, and <br />water in the pool. <br /> <br /> (g) WaLer in Pool. The water in t~e swimming <br />pool shall meet the r~quirements for a safe drinking <br />water supply. <br /> <br /> (h) Recirculatlon. For new po'els provision shall <br />be made for complete circulation of water through all <br />parts of the pool. The system shall be designed and <br />constructed so that a "turnover" of at least one time <br />in each 8-hour period shall be provided. The installa- <br />tion in new pools of the "fill and draw" type of cir- <br />culation shall not be permitted. For pools already <br />in existence the Director shall furnish the owners with <br />a program of improvements and additions which shall be <br />carried out over a period not to exceed five years in <br />order to comply with the requirements of the Director <br />for new pools. If, however, the "bathing load" of <br />the pools already in existence is not excessive accord- <br />ing to standards prescribed by the Directo~ in Rules <br />and Regulations promulgated hereunder, the Director may <br />desiqnate for such swimming pool the maximum number of <br />bathers allowed at one time, or during any one day, and <br />such maxima shall not be exceeded. The ~'bathin~ load" <br />allowable fur any existing pool shall be computed <br />according to accepted public health s~tandards, and the <br />action of the Director In this regard shall be final. <br /> A satisfactory reclrculating system for the swim- <br /> ming pool shall be ~nstalled consisting of circulating <br /> pumps, qhemica~ dozing equipment (alum and alkali) or <br /> surge tank, float valve control on water supply, hair <br /> and lint catcker, chlorinator, indicator, recording and <br /> totalizing lnstrumenu, flow meters, pressure gauges, <br /> a'nd piping connections to inlets and outlets; and all <br /> other necessary fixtures end connecuions. <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br /> <br />
