AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND SECTION 9-12 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSF~UTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, PERTAINING TO ADOPTION OF <br />THE NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 1971 EDITION. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 9-12 of the Code of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended and reordained <br />read as follows: <br /> <br />to <br /> <br /> Sec. 9-12. National Electrical Code - Adoption <br />by reference. <br /> <br /> Ail electrical construction and all material and <br />appliances used in connection with electrical work and the <br />operation of all electrical apparatus within the city shall <br />conform to the rules and requirements of the National <br />Electrical Code, 1971 Edition, as amended, adopted by the <br />National Fire Protection Association for the installation of <br />wiring and apparatus for electrical purposes, which rules <br />and requirements are hereby adopted and approved and made <br />a part of this Code as fully as if every word, were printed <br />herein; provided, that such rules and requirements are not <br />in conflict with the laws of the state or the ordinances of <br />thecity. <br /> <br /> 2.
