AN ORDINANCE TO A~ND SECTION 31-4 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY <br />OF PORTSMOUTHr VIRGI~IA, 1961, INCREASING THE FEE FOR PLANS <br />FOR DRIVEWAYS. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> t. That Section 31-4 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section 31-4. Lowering curbs: private driveways or ramps. <br /> <br /> No person shall lower the curb on any street, or <br />lay any private driveway or ramp crossing any sidewalk of <br />the city without first obtaining a permit therefor from the <br />director of public works. All such driveways or ramps shall <br />be constructed and curbs lowered according to plans to be <br />furnished by the director of public works, for which plans the <br />applicant shall pay seven dollars and fifty cents; and under <br />the supervision of the director of public works, subject to <br />such conditions as he may prescribe as to materials used and <br />manner of construction. All such driveways or ramps shall <br />be fully paved over their entire width between the edge of <br />the pavement of the street and the property line of the property <br />to be served by such driveway or ramp. AlL paving and repaving, <br />where necessary, shall be done at the expense of the person <br />receiving such permit. It shall be the duty of the owner of <br />such driveway at all times to keep the sidewalk crossed by <br />such driveway or ramp in good repair at his own expense. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held July 27, 1971. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
