AN ORDINi~CE TO A~!END THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, BY ADDING THERETO ~/~O NEW <br />SECTIONS NUMBERED 26-24.2 and 26-69.2t PROVIDING FOR <br />PREVIOUS CONTINUOUS SERVICE UNDER EITHER RETIRE~NT SYSTE~ <br />TO BE IkCLUDED AS CREDITABLE SERVICE. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, <br />be amended by adding thereto two n~.~ sections numbered 26-24.2 <br />and 26-69.2, such new sections to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 26-24.2. <br /> <br />Inclusion of service under the Ports- <br />mouth Fire and Police Retirement <br />System as creditable service. <br /> <br /> Any person who was formerly a member of the Ports- <br />mouth Fire and Police Retirement Syste~ shall be ~ranted <br />creditable service for the period he was a me~Der of such <br />system provided he has remained in continuous service with <br />the City and does not withdraw his contributions, if any, <br />to such system or if he has made such a withdrawal pays into <br />this system the amount of contributions he previously with- <br />drew from such system. <br /> <br />Sec. 26-69.2. <br /> <br />Inclusion of service under the Ports- <br />mouth Supplemental Retirement System <br />as creditable service. <br /> <br /> Any person who was formerly a member of the Portsmouth <br />Supplemental Retir~ent System shall be granted creditable <br />service for the period he was a men~er of such system provided <br />he has remained in continuous service with the City and does <br />not withdraw his contributions, if any, to such system or if <br />he has made such a withdrawal pays into this system the amount <br />of contributions he previously withdrew from such system. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia, at a meeting held July 27, 1971. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
