the City Manager, not to exceed, however, the rate of pay he <br />would receive had he not left the employment of the City. <br /> <br />Section 12. Part time employees. <br /> <br /> Any person employed on a part time basis shall re- <br />ceive compensation as prescribed by the City Manager. <br /> <br />Section 13. Overtime - generally. <br /> <br /> (a) Any employee whose rate of pay is fixed on a <br />monthly basis shall not receive any compensation for extra <br />or overtime work unless such has been approved an advance <br />by the department head and the city manager. Any compensation <br />authorized for extra or overtime work shall be entered on the <br />next succeeding payroll. <br /> <br /> (b) Except in cases of emergency, any employee <br />whose rate of pay is fixed on an hourly basis shall not re- <br />ceive any compensation for extra or overtime work unless <br />such has been approved in advance by the department head and <br />the city manager. All such employees performing emergency work <br />at other than the normally scheduled work period shall be paid <br />for a minimum of two hours at the overtime rate, which shall <br />be one and one-half times the straight hourly rate; provided, <br />however, that all such employees performing emergency work on <br />holidays shall be paid for a minimum of two hours at a rate <br />which shall be two and one-half times the straight hourly rate. <br /> <br /> (c) Any employee whose rate of pay is fixed on an <br />hourly basis who is required to work on a holiday shall be <br />paid for the straight hours worked, plus the normal pay for <br />one day's work or one compensatory day off. <br /> <br />Section 14. Overtime and additional compensation - firefighter <br /> and policemen. <br /> <br /> (a) Firefighters and policemen shall not receive <br />any compensation for extra or overtime work, except in cases <br />of emergency or as hereinafter provided. Any extra compensa- <br />tion allowed must be approved in advance of the performance <br />of the work by the Chief of the respective department with <br />the approval of the City Manager and must be entered by the <br />Chief on the next succeeding payroll submitted to the City <br />Auditor. <br /> <br /> (b) Anything herein to the contrary notwithstand- <br />ing, any firefighter or policeman below the rank of deputy <br />chief placed on special assignment duty shall be paid at the <br /> <br /> <br />
