AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTS- <br />MOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1961, BY REPEALING SECTIONS 9-27 AND 9-28 THEREOF, <br />PERTAINING TO THEATRICAL ELECTRICIANS AND MOTION PICTURE ~CHINE <br />OPERATORS, RESPECTIVELY; BY ADDING THERETO A NEW SECTION NUMBERED <br />9-9.1, PROHIBITING THE HIDING OF DEFECTIVE WORK; AND BY AMENDING <br />SECTIONS 9-9, 9-11, 9-16, 9-17, 9-21 AND 9-54, PERTAINING TO THE <br />INSPECTION OF ELECTRICAL WORK, CERTIFICATES OF APPROVAL, PERMITS, <br />APPLICATIONS THEREFOR, SCHEDULE OF FEES, AND RECIPROCITY WITH <br />NEIGHBORING LOCALITIES, RESPECTIVELY. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br />1. That sections 9-27 and 9-28 of the Code of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia 1961, be and the same, hereby are repealed. <br /> <br />2. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, 1961, be <br />amended by adding thereto a new section numbered 9-9.1 and by <br />amending sections 9-9, 9-11, 9-16, 9-17, 9-21 and 9-54 thereof, <br />such new and amended sections to read as follows: <br /> <br />Sec. 9-9. Inspection of electrical wiring. <br /> <br /> The electrical inspector or any person acting under his <br />authority as an inspector shall inspect all electrical wiring for <br />heat, light or power and apparatus used thereon, upon receipt of <br />application for same and permit being granted the contracting party <br />according to requirements. No person shall cover or conceal any <br />electrical wiring used or to be used for heat, light or power until <br />such w~ring has been inspected and approved by the electrical in- <br />spector. No person shall cut, alter, add or repair any electrical <br />wiring or apparatus or place any pipe, woodwork or m~terial of any <br />kind in close proximity with or in contact with electrical wiring <br />or apparatus after same has been inspected and approved. If the <br />above is necessary, the party doing same shall notify in person or <br />writing the electrical contractor or the electrical inspector so <br />that same may be rectified before wiring is concealed. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-9.1. Hiding of defects Prohibited. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to hide any defect <br />in the installation of any work done or materials used in the in- <br />stallation Of any electrical Wiring, materials or work done under <br />this chapter. <br /> <br />Sec. 9-11.
