AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIAt !961~ BY ~2~ENDiNG SECTIONS 23-1 AND 23-2 THEREOF PER- <br />TAINiNG TO THE POR~S~OU~H PORT AND INDUSTRIAL CO~3~ISSION. <br /> <br /> Be it ordaine~ by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1961, be amended by amending Sections 23-1 and 23-2 thereof, <br />such amended sections to read as follows: <br /> <br />CHAPTER 23 <br /> <br />Portsmouth Port and Industrial Commission <br /> <br />Section 23-1. Declaration. <br /> <br /> The city council deems it advisable and hereby de- <br />clares the necessity for the Portsmouth Port and Industrial <br />Conumission, as created by Chapter 157 of the Acts of the General <br />Assembly of Virginia, 195~ and such subsequent acts as are <br />amendatory thereof, to transact business as authorized by such <br />act or acts° <br /> <br />Section 23-2. Term~ election, powers and duties of members. <br /> <br /> The term of office of the members of the Portsmouth <br />Port and Industrial Commission shall begin on January 1, 1956 <br />and they shall be elected as provided in the act or acts re- <br />ferred to in Section 23-1. They shall have all the powers <br />and duties as set forth in such act or acts and are authorized <br />to transact the business of the Portsmouth Port and Industrial <br />Commission. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, at a meeting held October 10, 1972. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
