AN ORDINANCE TO CLOSE A PORTION OF A SIXTEEN FOOT ALLEY LOCATED <br />BETWEEN VILLAGE AND SECOND STREETS. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Tidewater Funeral Home, Inc., T/A Loving <br />& Gay F~neral Home has made application to vacate and close <br />the hereinafter described portion of a 16 foot alley; and <br /> WHEREAS, by resolution of this Council adopted July <br />25, 1972, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.~-364 <br />of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended to view the herein- <br />after dsscribed portion of the said alley and to report in <br />wrzting!whether in their opinion, any, and if any, what in- <br />conve~ignce would result from the discontinuing of the below <br />descrlbed alley; and <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing <br /> that in their opinion, no inconvenience would result from clos- <br /> ing and discontinuing said alley; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the <br /> City of Portsmouth, Virginia, that that portion of a 16 foot <br /> alley described as follows be and the same is hereby closed <br /> and vacated as a public alley; <br /> <br /> All that certain (16) foot strip of land <br /> situate in the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br /> described as follows, to-wit: <br /> <br />ginia, at <br /> <br /> BEGINNING at a point 142 feet, more or <br />less, north from the northeast intersection <br />of Academy Avenue and Second Street; thence <br />north and parallel with Academy Avenue, a <br />distance of 16 feet, more or less, to a point; <br />thence east and parallel with Village Street, <br />a distance of 215 feet, more or less; thence <br />south and parallel with Academy Avenue, a dis- <br />tance of 16 feet, more or less; thence west <br />and parallel with Second Avenue, a distance <br />of 215 feet, more or less, to the point of <br />beginning, as shown on that certain plat <br />duly recorded in the Clerk's Office of the <br />Circuit Court of the City of Chesapeake, Vir- <br />ginia in Map Book 18 at page 85. <br /> <br />Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vit- <br />a meeting held August 22, 1972. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
