(b) ~lap sheets accompanying this ordinance shall be of <br />identical scale and cartographic design as the map sheets which <br />heretofore have constituted the Zoning Map. Flood hazard district <br />maps shall be so designed and configured as to be ut~!ized as an <br />overlay 5o the Zoning Map as it has heretofore existed. <br /> <br /> (c) Interpretation of district boundaries contained <br />on the flood hazard district maps which accompany this ordinance <br />shall be accomplished in accordance with the rules and principles <br />established in Section 40-19 of this Code. <br /> <br /> (d) The provisions of this ordinance shall take prece- <br />deD_ce over any conflicting ordinances or city codes within the <br />flood hazard districts. <br /> <br />Section ~.1-3o Flood hazard districts; establish~ent of. <br /> <br /> The flood hazard districts within the City of Portsmouth <br />shall be as shown on the map sheets which accompany this ordinance. <br />The boundaries of such districts are determined in accordance with <br />the following principles: <br /> <br /> (a) Flood Hazard District 1 (FH-1 : This district is <br />that zone which is subject to the Intermediate Regional Tidal Flood. <br />This flood has an average frequency of once in one hundred years; <br />it produces a flood height or still water level of 8.5 feet above <br />mean sea level, as determined by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. <br /> <br /> (b) Flood Hazard District 2 (FH-2}: This district is <br />that zone which is subject to the Standard Project Tidal Flood as <br />defined by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Standard Project <br />Tidal Flood is the largest tidal flood vfnich could be produced by <br />the most severe combination of meterological and hydrological con- <br />ditions which are reasonably characteristic of the Portsmouth geo- <br />graphical region. This flood would produce a still water level <br />of 13 feet above mean sea level. <br /> <br />Section 40.1-4. Uses in flood hazard districts. <br /> <br /> (a) The following uses having a low flood-damage poten- <br />tial and not obstructing flood flows shall be permitted within <br />Flood Hazard District I to the extent that they are not prohibited <br />by any other ordinance. But no use shall adversely affect the <br />capacity of the channels or floodways of any tributary to the main <br />stream, drainage ditch~ or any other drainage facility o~ system. <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
