(b) ?~enever application is made pu~.suant to section <br />38-20 for the installation of a new water service connection out- <br />side the city and the Suffolk service area, the charges sb~ll be <br />one and one-half (1 1/2) times those specified in subsection (a) <br />above. <br /> <br /> (c) Any existing water service connection which was <br />installed prior to-July 1, 1962, shall be owned by the owner of <br />the premises served thereb~ and maintained by the owner or ten- <br />ant of said premises unless the owner thereof shall, at the in- <br />stance of any required repair between the main and the meter, <br />convey said water service connection to the city and make one- <br />half (1/2) the payment specified in subsection (a} hereinabove. <br />Such a water service connection shall be repaired and thereafter <br />maintained by the department of public utilities. <br /> <br /> (d) Except as provided in subsection (e) hereinbelow <br />any privately owned water service connection or portion thereof <br />shall he maintaine~ by said owner or the tenant of the premises <br />served thereby in accordance with the standards of the depart- <br />ment of public utilities and the provisions of this article. <br />Failure to conform to said standards and provisions shall con- <br />stitute cause for discontinuance of service. When such failure <br />necessitates shutting off water service at the tap cutoff valve <br />the owner of such water service connection shall pay the cost <br />thereof and the cost of restoring service before service shall <br />be restored by the department of public utilities. <br /> <br /> (e) Whenever an existing water service line is dam- <br />aged because of vehicular traffic on ~he road above the sam~ or <br />caving in the roadway between the water main and the meter, it <br />shall be the responsibility of the department of public utilities <br />to repair such damage and replace such lines as the situation re~ <br />quires. <br /> <br />Section 38-77~ Charges for service established. <br /> <br /> Any person contracting with the city for sewage dis- <br />posal service, or the o~wner, leasee or tenant, or any or all of <br />them, who uses or occupies any real estate which directly or in- <br />directly is or has been connected with the sewage system of the <br />city, or from or on which originates or has originated sewage or <br />industrialwastes or other wastes which directly or indirectly <br />enter or will enter the sewage system shall pay to the city for <br />the use and services of such system the fees, rents and charges <br />according to the following schedule of rates: <br /> <br />-3- <br /> <br /> <br />
