premises has been turned on by an unauthorized person, there shall be- an inspection fee of five dollars {$5.00) to cover the coat of the requiaite inspection. Such fees shall not apply to shutting off water service at the tap cutoff valve, but the provisions of section 38-48(d) shall govern. When a water customer applies for initial water aervice or moves from one residence to another, there shall be a fee of five dollars ($5.00) charged for establishing the new account and turning on water at the new residence. Section 38-48. Service connections and maintenance. (a) New service connections. ~Fnenever application is made pursuant to section 38-20 for the installation of a new water service connection within the city or within the Suf- folk service area, the applicant shall make the payment herein- after specified. The size and location of any such water service connection shall be determined by the director of public uti!i~ ties. Such payment or deposit shall cover the following services, materials and labor: installing water service connection between the water main and meter, shutoff valve at the meter; outlet fit- ting on ~ter or metersetter, meter box and meter, all of which shall beownedand thereafter maintained by the department of public utilities. For the following sizes of service connection the indi- cated charge shall be paid in advance: 3/4 inch service connection inch service connection 1/2 inchservice connection inch service connection inch service connection inch service connection ........ $ 150.00 ........ 200.00 ........ 400.00 ........ 600.00 ........ 2,000.00 ........ 3,500.00 Where the aize of the service connection exceeds six [6) inches, the applicant shall be required to pay a charge ~qual to the actual cost of such instal!ation~ plus twenty-five (25) per cent. The minimum charge for an 8" service connection shatlbe $4,500.00, and the minimum charge for a 10" connection shall be $6,000.00. The director shall estimate the charge, and the ap- plicant will deposit such amount before the work is done. An accounting shall be made of the cost of such installation. If the deposit is less than such charge, the applicant shall pay the difference within ten (10) days, and if the deposit is more than such charge the difference shall be refunded promptly. -2-
