A~[ ORDINANCE TO A34END THE CODE OF TI~E CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIA, 1973, BY AMENDING SECTIONS 38-34, 38-43 AND 38-48 PER- <br />TAIN~NG TO RATES CH3LRGED FOR WATER UTILITY SERVICES; AND BY <br />A~[ENDING SECTIONS 38-77 AND 38-79 PERTAINING TO RATES CF~ARGED <br />FOR WASTEWATER UTILITY SERVICES; ALtO BY ADDING NEW SECTION <br />38-82 ESTABLISHING A SE~R LiNE FEE. <br /> <br /> Be it ordained by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That the Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1973, be amended by amending sections 38-34, 38-43, 38-48, 38-77, <br />and 38-79; such amended sections to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 38-34. Meter rates for water supply. <br /> <br /> (al For all water which passes t~ough the meters, <br />the consumers within the corporate limits of the City of Ports- <br />mouth and within the City of Suffolk service area shall pay a <br />rate of fifty-five cents ($0.55) per one thousand (1,000-) gallons <br />(or forty-one and one-quarter cents ($0.4125) p~r one hundred <br />[i00] cubic feet) of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (b) For all water which passes through the meters, <br />the consumers outside the corporate limits of the City of Ports- <br />~outh and the City of Suffolk service area shall pay the rate <br />of eighty-two and one-half cents ($0.825) per one thousand (1,000) <br />gallons (or sixty-one and seven-eighths cents ($0.61875) per one <br />hundred [I00] cubic feet) of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (c) Bills rendered after July 1, 1974, but applying in <br />part to water consumed before that date, shall be prorated, with <br />the new rame applying to water consm~ed after July 1, and the <br />now existing rate applying to water consumed before that date. <br /> <br />Section 38-43. <br /> <br />Who may turn water back on; fee for ttLrning <br />on upo~ termination of service for nonpayment; <br />inspection fee when water is turned on by un- <br />authorized person. <br /> <br /> W~en water service to premises has been shut off by the <br />department of public utilities, no one except a representative of <br />the department of public utilities may turn the water on again. <br /> . en ~n~ wa~e~ servmce to a pre,.,lses has peen shut off at the meter <br />cu_ozf valve for nonpayment, the amount due and a fee of flve dol- <br />lars ($5.00) for turning on shall be paid before the water service <br />will be restored; provided that in the event water service to <br /> <br /> <br />
