(c) Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, any fire- <br />fighter or police~n below the rank-of Deputy Chief placed on <br />special assignment duty shall be paid at the rate of $4.00 per <br />hour for the time spent on such duty. Such additional compen- <br />sation ~us~ be entered by the Chief of the department on the <br />next succeeding payroll submitted to the Finance Director. All <br />special assig~,ents must be authorized by the Chief of the <br />department, or during his absence or disability, his duly author- <br />ized delegate. Overtime work shall not be considered special <br />assignment duty. <br /> <br />(d) Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, any fire- <br />fighter or policeman who appears as a witness when not on a <br />regular assigned period of'duty, in cr~ina! cases in courts <br />of the City of Portsmouth shall be paid a witness fee of $10.00 <br />for the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and the General <br />District Court, and $15.OO for the Circuit Court for each such <br />appearance; provided ho~wever, that only those firefighters and <br />policemen who are necessary to the prosecution of the case may <br />be paid such witness fee in connection with the trial of any <br />particular case~ and further provided however, that no fire- <br />fighter and policeman shall be paid more than one such witness <br />fee per day regardless of how many_ cases or courts he may be <br />required to appear or testify in. Such appearance shall be <br />certified by the Clerk of the Court to the Fire Chief or the <br />Police Chief, respectively, who shall report same to the City <br />Payroll Clerk on such forms and at such times as the Finance <br />Director may prescribe. <br /> <br />(e) Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, any fire- <br />fighter or policeman who is required to wear civilian clothes <br />in the regular performance of his official duties shall be paid <br />an additional thirty-five dollars per month as a clothing allow- <br />ance. <br /> <br />(f) The additional compensation authorized under subsection (b), <br />(c), and (d) above shall be in addition to all other compensation, <br />allowances and payments autP~rized by this or any other ordinance <br /> <br />Section 15. Advanced de~rees. <br /> <br />Anything herein to the contrary notwithstanding, any employee <br />who, subsequent to his employment, is awarded an associates <br />degree or degree in his profession above that which is required <br />for his position shall be paid an additional five hundred and <br />no/iOO dollars ($500.00) per annum, such sum to be paid in equal <br />installments at the same time as the base salary is paid. <br /> <br /> <br />
