Section 12. Part-time employees. <br /> <br />Any person employed on a part-time basis shall receive compen- <br />sation as prescribed by the City Manager or Director of Personnel. <br /> <br />Section 13. Overtime - generally. <br /> <br />(a) Except in cases of emergency, no employee shall receive <br />any compensation for extra or overtime work unless such has been <br />approved in advance by the department head and the City Manager. <br /> <br />(b) Ail non-exempt employees, shall be compensated at a rate <br />of one and one-half times the straight hourly rate for all <br />hours worked in excess of forty hours in a workweek. "Non- <br />exempt employees" shall be those employees subject to the over- <br />time provisions of The Fair Labor Standards Act as amended. <br /> <br />(c) Any non-exempt employee who is required to work on a holiday <br />shall be paid for the straight hours worked, plus the normal <br />pay for one day of work. <br /> <br />(d) In cases of emergency, the City Manager may, at his dis- <br />cretion, authorize payment for overtime to employees in exempt <br />categories. <br /> <br />Section 14o Overtime and additional compensation - Fire - <br /> fighter and Policeman. <br /> <br />(a) Firefighters and policemen shall not receive any compen- <br />sation for extra or overtime work, except in cases of emergency <br />or as hereinafter provided. Any extra compensation allowed <br />must be approved in advance of the performance of the work by <br />the Chief of the respective department with the approval of the <br />City Manager and must be entered by the Chief on the next succeed- <br />ing payroll submitted to the City Payroll Clerk. <br /> <br /> (b) Payment for overtime for firefighters and policemen shall <br />be computed as those hours in excess of two-hundred-forty in <br />a twenty-eight day tou= of duty, or in the case of a fire-fighter <br />or policeman to whom a work period of at least seven but less <br />than twenty-eight days applies, the employee shall receive com- <br />pensation for overtime for tours of duty which, in the aggregate <br />exceed a number of hours which bears the same ratio to the <br />number of consecutive days in his work period as two-hundred-forty <br />hours bears to twenty-eight days. <br /> <br /> <br />
