otherwise provided ford shall receive compensation according <br />to their classification and as provided in this ordinance. <br /> <br />Section 7. New employees. <br /> <br />Any person employed on and after July i~ 1974, shall receive <br />compensation according to the classification in which he is <br />placed; except that persons employed on or after that date <br />and classified under Section 3 of this ordinance shall be <br />placed in the probation step for his grade for a period of <br />not less than six months nor more than twelve months, but <br />no person shall serve in a probation step for more than twelve <br />months. <br /> <br />Section 8. Promotions. <br /> <br />Upon promotion to a higher pay grade, the ~ptoyee wilt be <br />placed in the lowest step which will afford him an increase in <br />pay that is no more than a three step advancement unless <br />authorized by the City Manager, but in no case shall an employee <br />be paid more than the maximum compensation provided for that <br />grade. <br /> <br />Section 9~ Demotions. <br /> <br />Any ~mployee who is demoted to a lower - ~ <br /> g~a~e shall receive <br />compensation according to th~ grade and step in which he is <br />placed by the City Manager, or the Director of Personnel. <br /> <br />Section i0o Transfers. <br /> <br />Any employee transferred to another class of employment shall <br />receive compensation at the same step rate he received prior <br />to his transfer. "Transfer~' shall mean lateral reassignment <br />of an employee from one position classification to another <br />position classification, which is comparable in term~ of duties, <br />responsibilities, and salary range. <br /> <br />Section ii. Reinstated employees. <br /> <br />Any person who is reinstated within one year after h~ has left <br />~ployment of the City shall receive compensation according to <br />the grade and step in which he is placed by the City Manager <br />or Director of Personne!~ not to exceed, however, the rate of <br />pay he would ha~ received had he no~ left the ~ployment of <br />the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
