AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND AND REORDAIN THE CODE OF THE CITY OF <br />PORTSMOUTH, VIRGINIA, 1973, BY ~ENDING SECTION 2-12 THEREOF <br />PERTAINING TO ANNUAL LEAVE. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia: <br /> <br /> 1. That Section 2-12 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br />Section 2-12. Annual leave. <br /> <br /> (a) There shall be granted to each officer and em- <br />ployee of the City annual leave at the rate of one day of an- <br />nual leave for each continuous calendar month of employment. <br /> <br /> (b) In addition to the annual leave benefits provided <br />in subsection (a) above, each officer and employee who shall have <br />completed the specified number of calendar years of continuous <br />employment shall be entitled to additional annual leave, in ac- <br />cordancewith the following schedule: <br /> <br />(1) Seven years, two days. <br /> <br />(2) Ten years, three days. <br /> <br />(3) Fifteen years, five days. <br /> <br />(4) Twenty years, seven days. <br /> <br /> Those persons reaching 7, 10, 15 and 20 years service <br />shall be credited their additional annual leave provided in <br />.this section on their anniversary dates. Those persons who <br />have previously attained 7, lO, 15 and 20 years service shall <br />be credited their additional annual leave on January 1 of each <br />year. <br /> <br /> (c) Annual leave may be taken at any time with the <br />writtenapproval of the department head concerned. During the <br />period of December 16 through December 31, department heads shall <br />not take annual leave except with the prior written-approval of <br />the City Man~g~_~r or his <br /> <br /> ~ Annual leave taken shall only be charged against <br />the normal working days of the officer or employee concerned. <br /> <br /> (e) Ail annual leave taken must be reported to <br />the finance department at the end of each period, and such <br /> <br /> <br />
