That Section 31-41 be amended and reordained <br />to read as follows: <br /> <br /> With respect to any member who was a member of the <br />Virginia Supplemental Retirement System immediately prior to <br />his becoming a member of this system, and whose membership in <br />the Virginia Supplemental Retirement System has ceased through <br />withdrawal of his contributions thereunder, the period of time <br />during which he was a member of the Virginia Supplemental Re- <br />tirement System may, in the discretion of the Board, be included <br />as creditable service hereunder provided he pays into the retire- <br />ment account the amount of contributions he withdrew from the <br />Virginia Supplemental Retirement System when he ceased to be a <br />member thereof, or, provided he pays into the retirement account <br />an amount equal to the normal contribution and accrued liability <br />contribution percentages of creditable compensation that would <br />have been paid had the person been a member during the period <br />of his membership in the Virginia Supplemental Retirement System. <br />Said amount paid into the retirement account by the member under <br />the provisions of this section shall remain in the assets of the <br />retirement system and shall not be considered as employee con- <br />tributions, any other provisions of this Article to the contrary <br />not withstanding. <br /> <br /> 4. That Section 31-55 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973~ be amended and reordained to read <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> Ail of the funds and assets of the System shall be <br />held in a single retirement accounts in which shall be accumu- <br />lated all contributions by the members and by the ~mployer, <br />and to which all income from the invested funds and assets <br />of the System shall be credited. From this account shall be <br />paid the refunds of accumulated contributions, the death be- <br />nefits and the retirement allowances provided for in this <br />Article. (Code 1961, Sec. 26-27; Ord. No. 1973-68, Sec. 1, <br />6-26-73). <br /> <br /> 5. That Section 3!-62(c) and 31-148(c) of the <br />Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia~ be amended and re- <br />ordained to read as follows: <br /> <br /> Any m~ber who terminated service as an employee <br />prior to retirement; and <br /> <br /> (!) Prior to July 1, 1973, but after the attainment <br />of age fifty (50) and the completion of twenty (20) years of <br />creditable service, or <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
