AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH~ VIR- <br />GINIA, 1973, BY A~4ENDING SECTION 8-3 Thq~REOF PERTAINING TO FEES <br />AND COMPENSATION OF THE HIGH CONSTABLE. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsm <br />mouth, Virginia that: <br /> <br /> 1. The Code of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />1973, be amended by amending Section 8-3 thereof, such amended <br />section to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 8-3. High Constable - Fees and compensation. <br /> <br /> (a) The High Constable shall charge for services <br />rendered by his office the following fees: <br /> <br /> !. For service on any person, firm or corporation~ <br />a declaration in ejectment, order, notice, summons or any other <br />civil process, except as herein otherwise provided, and for <br />serving on any person, firm, or corporation any process when <br />the body is not taken and making a return thereof, the sum of <br />three dollars fifty cents ($3°50). <br /> <br /> 2. For s%~moning a witness or garnishee on an <br />attachment, three dollars fifty cents ($3%50)o <br /> <br /> 3. For serving on any person an attachment or <br />other process, under which the body is taken and making a return <br />thereon, twelve dollars fifty cents ($12.50). <br /> <br /> 4. For serving any order of court not otherwise <br />provided for, three dollars fifty cents ($3.50). <br /> <br /> 5. For executing a writ of possession, six <br />dollars ($6.00). <br /> <br /> 6. For levying an execution or distress warrant <br />or an attachment~ ten dollars ($10.00). <br /> <br /> 7. For serving any papers returnable out of <br />State, fifteen dollars ($15.00). <br /> <br />($3.oo). <br /> <br />8. For taking a bond, the sum of three dollars <br /> <br /> 9. In any case in which the High Constable makes <br />a levy and advertises property for sale he shall i~ addition to <br />his fee for making the levy an~ return be entitled to recover <br /> <br /> <br />
