made thereto from time to time wzth the Building Official, <br />and present such and znventory as necessary in~h~= com~.ission's <br />annual report. <br /> <br />Section 40-111. <br /> <br />"Historic buitding'~ district markers - <br />Design: Agreement to display; erection <br />and maintenance; cost. <br /> <br /> The first duty of the co~ission shall be to design <br />the appropriate marker for the proposed "olde Towne" district <br />and place such recommendation before the City Council for <br />adoption; also, design an appropriate marker, bearing the <br />seal of the City and words 'q~istoric Building," and shall <br />invite each owner of a historic building described in the <br />inventory and list provided for in Section 40-110 to dis- <br />play the marker thereon. If such owmer~agrees to display <br />the marker, he shall signify such agreement by executing an <br />instrument approved by the City Attorney, a copy of which <br />shall be filed in the office of the Building Official. The <br />Building Official shall cause to be erected and thereafter <br />shall maintain such marker on or adjacent to such building <br />on which shall be inscribed the date of construction of the <br />building and the reason why it is of historic interest. <br />The cost of making, inscribing, installing and maintaining <br />such marker shall be paid out of the appropriation made <br />for the erection and mazn~enance of street signs. <br /> <br />Section 40-112. Unauthorized display. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person to display on any <br />building, without the authorization of the commission, a <br />marker provided for in Section 40-111 or any imitation there- <br />of. <br /> <br />Section 40-113. <br /> <br />Procedure to remove marker or demolish build~ <br />ing. <br /> <br /> The owner of a historic building who agrees to the display <br />of an official marker shall not remove the marker from the <br />building nor demolish the building, nor alter its structural <br />exterior appearance without first applying to the Commission <br />of ArchitecmuraL Review for approval of such action. 'An <br />application to remove an official marker or to demolish or <br />alter such building shall be made in writing by the owner <br />of th9 building to the Commission of Architectural Review for <br />investigation and report, which report shall be made within <br /> <br />-17- <br /> <br /> <br />
