(b) Any non-exempt employee who is required to <br />work on a holiday shall be paid for the straight hours worked, <br />plus the normal pay for one day of work. <br /> <br /> (c) In cases of emergency~ the City Manager may, <br />at his discretion, authorize payment for overtime to employees <br />in exempt categories. <br /> <br />Section 10. Overtime and additional compensation - <br /> Firefighter and Police Officers. <br /> <br /> (a) Except in emergency cases, overtime work for <br />firefighters and police officers must be approved in advance <br />by the Chief of the respective department before compensation <br />will be granted. <br /> <br /> (b) Payment for overtime for firefighters and police <br />officers shall be computed in accordance with the Fair Labor <br />Standards Act as amended in 1974. <br /> <br /> (c) Any firefighter or police officer below the <br />rank of Deputy Chief placed on special-assigrament duty shall <br />be paid at the rate of S5.00 per hour for the time spent on <br />such duty. Such additional compensation must be entered by <br />the Chief of the Department on the next succeeding payroll <br />submitted to the Finance Director. All special assignments <br />must be authorized by the chief of the Department, or during <br />his absence or disabilityt his duly authorized delegate. <br />Overtime work shall not be considered special assignment <br />duty. <br /> <br /> (d) Any sworn officer of the Fire or Police Depart- <br />ments who, in his official capacity, when not on a regular <br />assigned period of duty, is required to appear in court, <br />shall be paid at the rate of ten dollars, ($10.00) for the <br />first two hours or portion thereof, and five dollars ($5.00 <br />for each subsequent hour or major portion thereof. <br /> <br /> Only those firefighters and police officers whose <br />appearance is necessary to the conduct of the case will be <br />paid under the provisions of this section. Such appearances <br />shall be certified by the Clerk of the Court to the Fire <br />Chief or the Police Chief, respectively, who shall report <br />same to the City Payroll Clerk on such forms and at such <br />times as the Finance Director may prescribe. <br /> <br /> (e) Any firefighter or police officer who is re- <br />quired to wear civilian clothes in the regular performance <br /> <br /> <br />
