?~leneve~c any vessel, barge, scow or other craft is wrecked or sunk <br />in any of the waters in the city, accidentally or otherwise, the owner <br />of such vessel, barge, scow or other craft shall ir~nediately mark it with <br />a buoy ~nd a lighted lantern at night, and maintain such markers until <br />such sunken craft shall have been removed, and it shall be the respoD~ibility <br />of such person to immediately remove the same and to prosecute such <br />re, oval with diligence. The neglect or failure of the owner to so rm3ke <br />and to re~pDv~ the craft shall be unlawful. Each day such craft remaio~ <br />abandoned and unms~ked shall constitute a separate violation of this <br />section. <br /> <br />Section 23-508. Speed limits. <br /> <br /> It shal~ be unlawful for any person operating any nDtor boat to <br />pass under any bridge in the city at a speed in excess of five miles per <br />hour, and motor boats shall be operated in any cove designated by the <br />city manager at such speed as to create only a minirm~m wake. No person <br />shall be convicted of violating this section until appropriate signs <br />indicating the speed limit of "No Wake" have been posted so as to give <br />notice of such restrictions and the city manager .is hereby authorized to <br />post such signs as may be required by this section. <br /> <br />Section 23-509. Skiing, surfboarding, etc., too c!ost to piers, <br /> shores, bulkheads, etc. <br /> <br /> It shall be ur~lawful for any person operatJ~ng a motor tx~at and <br />tc~ring a person or persons on wauer skis, surfboard or other similar <br />device, or for the person or persons being towed to pass within fifty <br />feet of any pier, shoreline, bulkhead, bridge or ~_nchored or drifting <br />boat or vessel unless such motor boat towing such person or persons is <br />operated wholly within a ra~rked channel or unless such person is "taking <br />off' on water skis, surfboard or other similar device or "landing" from <br />water skis, surfboard or other similar device from private property with <br />the consent of the owner. <br /> <br />Section 23-510. Passing too close to sw~s. <br /> <br /> It shall be unlawful for any person operating a motor boat or a <br />motor boat towing water skis, surfboard or other similar device, or for <br />the person or persons being towed to pass within one hundred feet of any <br />swin~ner or bat~er. For the purpose of this section, a fallen water <br />skier or surfboarder shall be considered a swinn~r. The provisions of <br />this section shall not apply to any person operating a motor boat wtkile <br />effec~ng a rescue or rendering aid or assistance, or to any motor beat <br />operating wholly within a rm3rked channel if such boat has reduced its <br />speed to five miles per hour. <br /> <br /> <br />
