AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, VIR- <br />GINIA, 1973, BY ADDING TO CI'~PTER 2 THEREOF, SECTION 2-18 PER- <br />TAINING TO ~NDATORY RETIRemENT OF THOSE OFFICERS AND ~PLOYEES <br />NOT SUBJECT TO THE RETIREMENT SYSTEM. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, that Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended by adding Section 2-18 <br />%hereto to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 2-18. Mandatory Retirement. <br /> <br /> Any officer or employee who attains the age of sixty- <br />five years of age shall be retired on the first day of the month <br />following the attaining of such age; provided, however, that any <br />officer or ~ployee who was employed and who had attained the age <br />of sixty-five years of age at the date of adoption of this ordi- <br />nance shall be retired effective June 30, 1978~ <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, at a meeting held May 31, 1977. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
