EXAMINER. The word "examiner" shall be taken to mean <br />the medical examiners provided for in Section 31-23. <br /> <br /> MEMBER. The word "member" shall be taken to mean any <br />employee who has been included in the membership of the <br />system as provided in Section 31-29, and whose membership <br />has not terminated under the provisions of Section 31-30. <br /> <br /> NORMAL RETIllEMENT DATE. <br />date" shall be taken to mean <br />following or coinciding with <br />of a member. <br /> <br />The term "normal retirement <br />the first of the month next <br />the sixty-fifth (65th) birthday <br /> <br /> RETIREMENT ALLOWANCE. The term "retirement ~llowance" <br />shall be taken to mean the retirement payments to which a <br />member is entitled as provided in this article. <br /> <br /> SERVICE. The word "service" shall be taken to mean <br />service as an employee for which compensation is paid by <br />the employer. <br /> <br /> SYSTEM. The word "system" shall be taken to mean the <br />"Portsmouth Supplemental Retirement System" provided for in <br />this article. <br /> <br />Section 31-30 (b) . <br /> <br /> (b) Should any person terminate service as an employee <br />other than by retirement under the provisions of this article, <br />after he has completed the nunf0er of years of creditable <br />service required for entitlement to benefits under Section 31-62; <br />and should such person at any time again become an employee, <br />any benefits becoming payable under the provisions of this <br />article shall be determined on the basis of the total creditable <br />years of service combined for all such periods of employment. <br /> <br />Section 31-62(b). <br /> <br /> (b) The provisions of subsection (a) of this section <br />to the contrary notwithstanding, any member attaining age <br />seventy (70) shall be retired forthwith. <br /> <br />Section 31-68. Adjustments of Retirement Allowance. <br /> <br /> (a) Any person receiving a retirement allowance under <br />Section 31-63, 31-65, 31-67.- 31-70[b) or Section 31-74 shall <br />receive an adjustment of allowance in such amount as'from time <br />to time be approved by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia. Such allowance shall be determined as a percentage <br />of the retirement allowance that would have been payable in <br />the absence of this section and shall be subject to the same <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br /> <br />
