Overtime <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Eligibility for overtime compensation shall be determined <br />by the Department Head and the Director of Personnel in <br />~accordance with approved personnel practices except for <br />sworn officers of the Fire and Police Departments. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Overtime work for sworn officers of the Fire and Police <br />Departments must be approved in advance by the Chief of <br />the respective department before compensation will be <br />granted. Emergency cases will be reviewed by the Chief <br />before compensation is granted. <br /> <br />(c) The C~ty Manager may, a~ his discretion, authorize payment <br /> for overtime to any employee. <br /> <br />~SECTI~ 1t. Additional Compensation - Firefighters and <br /> Police Officers <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Any sworn officer of the Fire and Police Departments below <br />the rank of Assistant Chief placed on special assignment <br />duty shall be paid at the rase of thirteen dollars ($13.00) <br />for the first two hours or a portion thereof, and six <br />dollars and fifty cents ($6.50) for each subsequent hour or <br />major portion thereof. Such additional compensation must <br />be entered by the Chief of the Department on the next <br />succeeding payroll submitted to the Finance Director. ~Alt <br />special assignments must be authorized by the Chief of the <br />Department, or during his absence or disability, his duly <br />authorized designee. Overtime work shall nom be considered <br />special assignment duty. <br /> <br />(b) <br /> <br />Any sworn officer of the Fire or Police Department who, in <br />his official capacity when not on regular assigned period of <br />duty, is required to appear in court, shall be paid at the <br />rate of thirteen dollars ($13.00) for the first two hours or <br />portion thereof, and six dollars and fifty cents ($6.50) for <br />each subsequent hour or major portion thereof. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />Any sworn officer of the Fire or Police Department who is <br />required to wear civilian clothes in the regular performance <br />of official duties shall be paid an additional forty dollars <br />($40.00) ~e~ month as a clothing allowance. This allowance <br />~ill be paid quarterly commenczng with the first 'fiscal <br />quarter after assignment. <br /> <br /> <br />
