AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE FOLLOWING: A PORTION OF UNNAMED <br />ALLEY ON THE NORTH SIDE OF TURNPIKE ROAD. (S-79-1) <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, James S. and Susan K. Eilberg, have made <br />application to vacate, close and discontinue the hereina~ove- <br />described portion of a certain alley; and <br /> <br /> ~EREAS, by a Resolution of this Council adopted March <br />27, 1979, viewers were appointed pursuant to Section 15.1-364, <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended~ to view the hereinafter- <br />described portion of said alley, and to report in writing <br />whether in their opinion any, and if any, what inconvenience <br />would result from discontinuing the below-described alley; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said viewers have reported in writing that <br />in their opinion no inconvenience would result from the <br />closing and discontinuing of said alley. <br /> <br /> NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City <br />of Portsmouth, Virginia, that that portion of said alley <br />hereinafter-described be closed and vacated as a public alley. <br /> <br />UNNAMED ALLEY <br /> <br /> Beginning on the north side of Turn- <br />pike Road in the City of Portsmouth, Vir- <br />ginia, approximately 130' west from its <br />intersection with Confederate Avenue; thence <br />northerly approximately 280' to a point; <br />thence westerly approximately 16' to a <br />point; thence southerly approximately 290' <br />to the north right-of-way to the point of <br />origin. <br /> <br /> This ordinance shall take effect from the date of its <br />adoption. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia <br />at a meeting held May 8, 1979.
