General retail <br />business, commer- <br />cial and personal <br />service establish- <br />ments <br /> <br />Parking in the ratio of at <br />least 2.5 spaces per t,OOO <br />s~uare feet of usable floor <br />space in excess of two thou- <br />sand (2,000) sm. ft. exclu- <br />sive of storage or stock area. <br />Such parking spaces shall be <br />reserved and maintained in a <br />public parking facility within <br />1,250 feet of the site contain- <br />ing spaces in the same ratio. <br /> <br />(5.1) <br /> <br />~ere off-street parking garage structures are in- <br />volved, a special exception may include reduction <br />of the size of parking spaces below the minimum <br />specified in section 40-31 to accommodate so-called <br />compact automobiles. Exception may be granted <br />pursuant to the procedure outlines in sub-paragraph <br />(1.2) of subsection (a). In considering any such <br />application, the commission shall consider the system <br />proposed for identifying those levels and/or areas <br />designed and reserved for compact automotive vehicles. <br /> <br />Sec. 40-122. Downtown D-1 District sign recuirements. <br /> <br />Signs shall be classified and regulated in accordance with <br />the requirements established in this article, and as specified <br />hereunder. <br /> <br />(a) <br /> <br />Any sign located on the awning shall be affixed flat to <br />the surface thereof, an~ shall be nonilt~u~inated and <br />shall indicate only the name and/or address of the <br />establishment. No such sign shall extend vertically <br />or horizontally beyond the limits of such awning. <br />Signs on awnings, by virtue of its being affixed to <br />the surface of awning, shall be exempt from the limi- <br />tation imposed by this chapter on the projection of <br />signs from the face of 'the wall of any building or <br />structure. However, such awnings shall be more than <br />7' high above the curb level. <br /> <br />(b) Ail signs shall be mounted in one of the following <br /> manners: <br /> <br />(1) Flat against a building or wall. <br /> <br />(2) Back-to-back in pairs, so that the back of the <br /> sign will be screened from public view. <br /> <br />(3) In clusters in an arrangement which will screen the <br /> back of the signs from public view. <br /> <br /> <br />
