SECTION 4. Compensation and Salary Adjustment. <br /> <br /> On and after July t, 1980, the salary steps for the <br />respective positions set forth in Section 2. of this ordinance <br />shall constitute the plan of compensation for all persons <br />classified under said Section: (See PAY.SCHEDULES). <br /> <br />(a) General Increases. <br /> <br /> The City Manager may recon~end the granting of <br />general increases for all persons classified under this plan. <br /> <br /> Such general increases will be applied directly to <br />the Pay Schedule such that each grade and step shall reflect the <br />increase° <br /> <br /> When a general increase is granted, there ms no <br />movement on the Pay Schedule; the employee retains the same <br />grade and step designation. <br /> <br />(b) Ingrade Progression. <br /> <br /> Except as noted, all employees shall receive a one <br />step (two steps under the former step lettering), increase <br />annually until they reach the G or G(t) (formerly M or N <br />steps) immediately prior to the application of the longevity <br />movement. <br /> <br /> Employees will recezve their Ingrade ProgressioD, <br />where applicable, on the basis of their position on the Pay <br />Schedule of this Pay and Classification Ptan~ Specifically, <br />those employees on the A, B or C etc., unshaded steps, will <br />continue to progress on these regular steps, until they reach <br />the G ste~. Employees on the B(t), C(t), etc., shaded <br />transitional steps, will continue to progress mn the same <br />manner until they reach the G(t) step. <br /> <br /> The exception to standard Ingrade Progression is hhat <br />an employee who attains the F(t) step in the Pay Schedule, will <br />progress to the G(t) on his anniversary dater only if the <br />employee has strained ten (10) years service. If such employee <br />attains the F(t) step with less than ten (10) years City service, <br />his/her progression will be to the G step. Upon attainment <br />of these last steps., (G or G(t), of the Pay Schedule~ paragraph <br />(c) below~ pertaining to longevity increases, applies. <br /> <br /> No employee may receive more khan one tngrade Pro- <br />gression per year except under the provisions of paragraph <br />(e) below. <br /> <br /> <br />
