Section 2-42. Date, time of regular meetings. <br /> <br /> {a) There shall be regular meetings of the City Council, <br />unless otherwise provided by special resolution, beginning <br />at 7:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays in each month <br />except in the month of December when the regular meeting <br />shall be on the second Tuesday. <br /> <br /> lb) There shall be regular meetings of the City Council, <br />unless otherwise provided by special resolution, beginning <br />at 7:30 p.m. on Monday preceding the second Tuesday in the <br />months of February, April, June, August, October and December. <br />Public hearings which the Council are required to hold under <br />Chapter 11 of Title 15.1 of the Code of Virginia shalt be <br />held at the meetings specified in this subsection, but <br />nothing herein shall be construed as prohibiting the continuation <br />of any such public hearing to any other time or place. <br /> <br /> Section 2-44. Notice of Special Meetings. <br /> <br /> The City Clerk shall cause notice in writing of'all <br />special meetings of the City Council to be"delivered at least <br />twenty-four C24) hours prior to the time appointed for such <br />meetings to each member of the City Council personally or <br />at such member's usual place of business or residence. In <br />an emergency, by written consent of a majority of all the <br />members of the City Council, a special meeting may be held <br />with less notice, provided that the City Clerk, in writing, <br />certifies that an attempt was made to notify each member of <br />the City Council at his usual place of business and residence. <br /> <br /> Section 2-47. Adjournment in~ Absence of Quorum; Retirement <br /> ofMemberbefore Adjournment. <br /> <br /> tf a quorum is not present at the.time appointed for <br />any meeting of the City Council, the City Clerk shall, at <br />the time appointed for the meeting, enter upon the record <br />the name of the members present. A major~ty of those members <br />present may immediately.adjourn, but no member in attendance <br />shall retire before adjournment without the consent of the <br />majority o~those present. <br /> <br /> Section 2-48. Absence of Member A~ter Being Marked Present. <br /> <br /> After a member of City Council has been entered on the <br />Minutes as presen~ at any Council Meeting, he shall not <br />excuse himself from the Council Chamber for a longer period <br />than ten (lO)~minutes withou~ being denoted by the City <br />Clerk as absent. <br /> <br /> <br />
