AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE CODE OF THE CITY OF PORTSMOUTH, <br />VIRGINIA, 1973, AS AMENDED, BY ADDING TO SECTION 14-5 <br />SUBSECTION (d) PERTAINING TO CHARGES FOR HANDLING REFUSE <br />AT CITY INCINERATOR OR LANDFILL. <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, <br />Virginia: <br /> <br />I. That Section 14-5 of the Code of the City of Ports- <br />mouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended by adding thereto subsection <br />(d) to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 14-5. Charges for handling refuse at City incinerator <br /> or landfill. <br /> <br /> (d) Prior to granting disposal services at the City <br />incinerator or landfill to any business or commercial establish- <br />ments, the Department of Public Works may, at the discretion <br />of its director, reaumre a cash deposit of One Hundred ($1OO.) <br />Dollars for each business or commercial landfill user who has <br />not prevmously established satisfactory credit for such service. <br />At such time of final termination of an account, the deposit <br />will be applied to the final billing and any refund due shall <br />be ~aid to the party entitled to the deposit. If any account <br />exceeds the amount of deposit, the Director of Public Works <br />or his duly authorized representative, shall be authorized to <br />increase the deposit required. After a period of continuous <br />servzce and satisfactory payment of fees so as to establish <br />satisfactory credit determined by the Director of the Depart- <br />ment of Public Works, the deposit may be applied to the re- <br />spective account. <br /> <br /> 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from the date of <br />_~s adoption. <br /> <br /> Adopted by the Council of the City of Portsmouth, Virginia, <br />at a meeting held Septembe'r 29, 1981. <br /> <br />Teste: <br /> <br />City Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />
