(d) Twenty dollars ($20.00) for each trailer or semi- <br />trailer designed for use as living quarters for human beings. <br /> <br /> (e) Ten dollars [$10.00) in addition to eighty ~ents <br />(.80) per one hundred_ (100) pounds of weight or majo~ fraction <br />thereof for each motor vehicle, trailer or semi-trailer kept <br />or used for rent or for hire or operated under a lease without <br />a chauffe,~r for the transportation of passengers. An additional <br />fee of five dollars ($5.00) shall be charged if the vehicle <br />weiqhs in excess of four thousand (4,000) pounds. This <br />subsection does not apply to vehicles used as cotm~on carriers. <br /> <br /> (f) Twenty dollars ($20.00) for a taxicab and other <br />vehicles kept for rent or hire operated with a chauffeur for <br />the transportation of passengers, which operates or should <br />operate under permits issued by the State Corporation Commission <br />as required by law and the City Code. A~ additional fee of <br />five dollars ($5.00) shall be charged if the vehicle weighs <br />in excess of four thousand (4,000) pounds. This subsection <br />does not apply to vehicles used as common carriers. <br /> <br /> (g) Fifteen dollars ($15.00) for a motorcycle, with or <br />without a sidecar. <br /> <br /> (h) Twenty dollars ($20.00) for a bus used exclusively <br />for transportation to and from Sunday School or church, for <br />the purpose of divine worship; provided that if the empty <br />weight of the vehfcls exceeds four thousand (4,000) pounds, <br />the fee shall be twenty five dollars ($25.00). <br /> <br />(i) Ten dollars ($10.00) in addition to seventy cents <br />(.70) per one hundred (!00) pounds of weiqht or major fraction <br />thereof for other passenger-carrying veh±~les. <br /> <br /> Definitions of terms not otherwise found in this Code <br />shall have the meaning as prescribed in Section 46.1-1 of the <br />Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended. <br /> <br /> 2. That Section 23-473 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 231473. Same-small rented vehicles jointly operated. <br /> <br /> The license taxes required by Subsections (e) and (f) <br /> of Section 23-47~ to be paid for the operation of motor vehicles <br /> used for rent or hire shall not be required for th~ operation <br /> of any motor vehicle with a normal seatin~ capacity of not more <br /> than six adult persons including the driver (a) while used not <br /> for profit in transporting persons who~ as a co~on undertaking, <br /> bear or agree to bear all or a part of the actual costs of <br /> such operation, or (b) while used by a lessee renting or hiring <br /> such vehicle for a period of twelve (12) months or longer under <br /> a written lease or agreement; and for the purpose of Section ~3- <br />. ~470 %every such motor vehicle shall be treated as a private passenq~a~ f <br /> <br /> <br />
