car for which the annual license tax shall be twenty dollars <br />($20.00). Provided, however, if such vehicle exceeds a <br />weight of four thousand (4,000) pounds, such tax shall be <br />twenty-five dollars ($25.00). <br /> <br /> 3. ?hat Section 23-474 of the Code of the City of <br />Portsmouth, Virginia, 1973, be amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />Section 23-474. Tax on vehicles not designed or used for <br /> transportation of passengers. <br /> <br /> ~'Except as hereinafter otherwise provided, the license <br />tax to be paid by the owner of all motor vehicles not designed <br />and used for the transportation of passengers shall be ten <br />dollars ($i0.00) in addition to an amount to be determined <br />by the gross weight of the vehicle or combination of vehicles <br />of which it is a part, when loaded to the maximum capacity <br />for which it is registered and licensed, according to the <br />schedula of fees herein set forth. For each one thousand <br />(1OO0) pounds of gross weight, or major fraction thereof, <br />for which any such vehicle is registered and licensed, there <br />shall be paid to the City of Portsmouth, the tax indicated <br />in the following s~hed~te i.mmediately opposite the weight <br />group and under t%~ c~a~siflcation established by the provisions <br />of Section 46.1-~9(b)'of the Code of Virginia, 1950, as amended, <br />into which such vehicle, or any combination of vehicles of <br />which it is a part~ falls when loaded to the maximum capacity <br />for which it is reg!stered and licensed.
