Section 38-34. Meter rates for water supply. <br /> <br /> (a) For all water which passes through the meters, the <br />consumers~l~5~-t~ corporate ~i~Y~the ~it--~-~Portsmou~ <br />shall pay a rate of one dollar and thirteen cents ~$1.13) per <br />one thousand (I,000) gallons, or, eighty-four and fifty-two <br />one hundredths cents ($0.8452) per one hundred (100) cubic <br />feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (b) For all water which passes through the meters of the <br />City of Chesapeake pursuant to contract, the City of Chesapeake <br />shall pay one dollar and eight cents ($1.08) per one thousand <br />(1,000) gallons, or, eighty and seventy-eight one hundredths <br />cents ($O.807~) per one hundred (100) cubic feet of water <br />supplied. For all water which oasses through the meters, the <br />customers in the City of Chesapeake who are served by Portsmouth <br />and whose rates are not set by contract shall pay two dollars <br />and twenty-three cents ($2.23) per one thousand'fl,O00) gallons, <br />or, one dollar and sixty-seven cents ($1.67) per one hundred <br />(100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> lc) For all water which passes through the meters to <br />the City of Suffolk pursuant to contract, the City of Suffolk <br />shall pay one dollar and three and fifty-eight one hundredths <br />cents ($1.O358) per one thousand fl,O00) gallons, or, seventy- <br />seven and forty-eight one hundredths cents ~$O.7748) per one <br />hundred (100) cubic feet of water supplied. <br /> <br /> (d) The rates prescribed herein will be reflected in <br />bills rendered after July 1, 1983. <br /> <br />Section 38-35. Discretionary Rebate of Charges for Waste. <br /> <br /> Ail water for which a charge is made under this Article <br />passing through a meter shall be charged for whether used, <br />consu]ned or wasted; provided, however, that where underground <br />or inside leaks or both occur in water pipes, and the owner <br />or occupant of such premises or the consumer thereof shall <br />have all necessary repairs made promptly shall furnish the <br />director with documentation certifying that the repairs have <br />been made and the date completed, and shall have repairs inspected <br />and approved by utility personnel. The director may make such <br />rebate to such owner, occupant or consumer of the water and <br />sewer charges in excess of the average consumption for the <br />premises during the last six ~6) months. A maximum of fifty <br />percent (50%) credit on excess water and sewer~ charges over <br />the average will be allowed. In circu/ustances where it can <br />be proven that the leaking water did not enter the sanitary <br />sewer system, a one hundred percent (100%) credit will be <br />allowed for the excess sewer charges. In unusual circumstances, <br />the director may make additional adjustments. Only one adjust- <br />ment credit may be allowed for leaks within twelve (12) con- <br />secutive months. <br /> <br /> <br />
